The frequency of routine servicing of Water Tanks are set out in AS 1851-2012. Monthly, six monthly, yearly and 10 yearly inspections and cleaning are required.
Maintenance, Inspection & Testing
A water storage tank must show the water level by way of an indicator and must have an access panel for visual inspections to be conducted. A tank as such should also be identified on your hydraulic system block plan including the capacity.
AS2304 standards dictate the water storage requirements for fire protection and set out the minimum requirements for the design, construction, installation, commissioning and maintenance of bolted steel circular and rectangular water tanks for the storage of water for fire protection systems. This Standard also provides guidance on water sources and qualities that influence tank design and construction, together with water conservation measures.
